Child Dies after Beaumont Crash at College St and I-10
Beaumont, TX. - A 7-year-old boy was killed in a head-on collision on Saturday morning in Beaumont.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened in the 4000 block of College Street and Interstate 10 around 3:11 a.m.
A 46-year-old woman was driving a white Buick eastbound on College Street when she stopped at the green light signal, accelerated from the intersection at a high rate of speed, crossed the concrete median, and collided head-on with a Ford Expedition.
The woman was trapped inside, and hydraulic rescue tools were used to rescue her.
A child in the Buick was found unresponsive, but responders regained a pulse.
The 7-year-old boy was taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.
The driver of the Buick, Leosha Livings, was taken to the hospital with her condition deemed critical but stable.
The driver of the Ford was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
