San Antonio, Texas (November 3, 2019) – The man who was killed in a bicycle accident Wednesday night in San Antonio has been identified as Rudy Montalbo Jr., 40, according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The accident took place around 7:30 p.m. on October 30, at the intersection of Blanco Road and Dresden Drive.

Police said Montalbo was riding his bike southbound on the sidewalk on Blanco Road approaching the intersection. A Chevrolet Silverado was approaching from the opposite direction.

Montalbo then turned left onto Dresden Drive. As the Chevrolet turned onto Dresden Drive, Montalbo began cycling in front of the pickup. The Chevrolet driver swerved to avoid Montalbo, but he continued to drift into the eastbound lane in front of the Chevrolet.

The Chevrolet jumped a curb as the driver attempted to avoid Montalbo, but he ended up being pinned against a utility pole.

The Chevrolet driver remained at the scene.

Montalbo was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police could not immediately identify Montalbo because he had false identification.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

The Chevrolet driver was cited for not having a driver’s license.

An investigation is underway.
