Martin County, Texas – The third person who was killed in a three-vehicle crash Tuesday evening in Martin County has been identified as 25-year-old Victor Craven Jr., according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 7:26 p.m., March 26, on Interstate 20.

DPS said a 2019 Nissan Sentra was traveling eastbound in the outside lane of the interstate while a 2019 Ford Coachman was traveling eastbound in the inside lane.

The Sentra swerved into the Coachman, causing the Coachman to veer into the center median, through the cable barrier, and into westbound lanes where it collided with a westbound 2017 Ford F-250.

The Sentra also veered into the center median, hit a cable barrier, and rolled over.

51-year-old Pedro Alvarez Ramirez of Midland, who was a passenger in the Ford F-250, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger, 54-year-old Julio Lopez Leal, was taken to the hospital, where he was also pronounced dead.

The driver of the Ford F-250, 34-year-old Miguel Chel-Sanchez, was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Coachman, Craven, was also pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Sentra, 19-year-old Maliyah Garcia, and a passenger were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The DPS is investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
