86-Year-Old Woman in Wheelchair Killed in Houston Pedestrian Accident on Wirt Road
Houston, Texas (January 6, 2019) – A woman in a wheelchair was struck and killed by a vehicle Wednesday evening in Houston, police said.
The deadly accident happened at about 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, January 2 in the 1800 block of Wirt Road.
According to the police, the 86-year-old woman was exiting a gate on the southbound side of an apartment complex on Wirt Road and was trying to cross the road outside a crosswalk when a southbound silver Toyota 4Runner hit her.
The elderly woman was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the Toyota stopped at the scene and complied with investigators. Neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the collision.
The crash remains under investigation.
