Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Vehicle on Austin Street in Houston

73-Year-Old Man Killed in Houston Pedestrian Accident on Austin Street at Capital Street
Houston, Texas (March 10, 2019) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday evening at an intersection in Houston, authorities said.
The fatal accident happened at around 6:25 p.m. Tuesday, March 5 at 700 Austin Street and Capital Street.
Authorities said an orange Jeep Wrangler was heading northbound on Austin Street and stopped at a red light at the intersection. As the light turned green, the Jeep made a left turn onto Capital Street and hit the pedestrian while he was in the crosswalk.
The pedestrian, only identified as a 73-year-old man, was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries the following day. His name has not been disclosed pending identification and notification of family.
The driver of the Jeep stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the accident.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
