1 Killed in San Antonio Pedestrian Accident on Southwest Military Drive near Mango Avenue
San Antonio, TX. - A woman died after being struck by a vehicle involved in street racing on Sunday night in San Antonio.
The fatal accident occurred on 1100 Southwest Military Drive near Mango Avenue at around 10:22 p.m., according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
19-year-old Vynzell Edward McGarity was driving a white Dodge Charger eastbound at a high rate of speed while racing another vehicle when he changed lanes and struck a woman crossing the street.
The woman was found lying on the street and was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.
The driver of the Dodge was taken into custody on charges of racing causing serious bodily injury or death, and reckless driving.
The San Antonio Police Department is investigating the crash.
