Robertson County, TX – Two people were killed in an 18-wheeler accident early Tuesday morning in Robertson County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal collision occurred around 4:07 a.m. on northbound Highway 6 at Pin Oak Creek, south of Hearne.

DPS said a Freightliner truck tractor rig was northbound on the highway and was either stopped or moving slowly. It was believed to be having mechanical and lighting problems with the lights on the trailer, which were not working.

A northbound 1999 Peterbilt then rear-ended the Freightliner's trailer. The impact pushed the Freightliner up into its cab.

Jose Lopez-Diaz, 58, of Hearne, who was driving the Freightliner, died at the scene.

The Peterbilt driver, 41-year-old Janson Angstadt of Navasota, was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are investigating the collision.
