1 Killed in Ward County Car Accident on I-20 near Mile Marker 51
Ward County, TX. – A man died in a multi-vehicle crash on Sunday morning in Ward County.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident occurred on Interstate 20 near mile marker 51 at around 4:45 a.m.
A 2015 Freightliner Cascadia was traveling westbound when the driver reportedly failed to control its speed and struck the rear of a 2016 Nissan Rogue that was being towed by another vehicle.
The crash caused a chain-reaction collision involving nine other cars. Several vehicles burst into flames after the crash.
A male passenger of a 2022 Ford F-250 was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Freightliner sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Reeves County Hospital for treatment.
Four other people were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
More details on the crash were not provided.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
