1 Killed Wrong-Way Crash on Interstate 20 in Midland
Midland, TX. - A 23-year-old New Mexico man identified was killed after a wrong-way crash on Monday morning in Midland.
The fatal collision occurred on Business Interstate 20, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Juan Eduardo Viesca De La Cerda was driving a 2024 Jeep Wrangler eastbound on BI-20 in the wrong lane when he collided head-on with a 2019 Ford F-350 driven by Juan Pablo Portillo, 48, who was traveling westbound on BI-20.
The Jeep burst into flames after the collision.
De La Cerda was pronounced dead at the scene.
Portillo suffered serious injuries and was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital.
More information on the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
