2 Killed in Camp County Crash on U.S. Highway 271

Camp County, TX. – Two people were killed in a head-on collision on Sunday afternoon in Camp County.

The fatal crash happened on U.S. Highway 271 near the Titus County line at around 2:32 p.m., according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

A 16-year-old boy was driving a Nissan Altima northbound on U.S. Highway 271 when he crossed into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a Kenworth semi-truck driven by a 48-year-old Tyler resident.

Paramedics pronounced the driver of the Nissan and his passenger dead at the scene.

The driver of the semitruck was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

More details about the crash were not provided.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
