Temple, TX – The person who was killed in a three-vehicle crash at Airport Road and Westfield Boulevard in Temple Tuesday afternoon has been identified, according to authorities.

Officials identified the deceased as 21-year-old Abigail Akers of Moffat.

The fatal collision occurred at approximately 2:58 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, at the intersection of Airport Road and Westfield Boulevard.

Preliminary investigation findings indicate that a vehicle crossed over the center line into oncoming traffic and collided with two other vehicles, resulting in a three-vehicle crash.

Akers was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Larry Wilkey. Two other people suffered injuries that were described as non-life-threatening and were transported to a hospital for treatment.

Authorities said the collision occurred after one vehicle crossed into opposing traffic, but additional details regarding what caused the driver to do so have not been released.

Officers with the Temple Police Department responded to the scene and launched an investigation. The department's Traffic Reconstruction Unit is handling the case.

The crash caused traffic disruptions in the area, with vehicles being diverted onto Research Boulevard and Westfield Boulevard while investigators processed the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
