Agapito Martinez Killed in Two-Vehicle Collision on US 67 in Irion County

Irion County, TX – A man was killed Thursday evening in a two-vehicle collision in Irion County, according to the Texas DPS.

The deadly collision occurred around 6:38 p.m. on US 67 near Bryant Lane.

DPS said a 2006 Chevrolet pickup hauling a trailer was traveling westbound on the highway. It drove off the right side of the roadway, for unknown reasons, overcorrected, and drove into the eastbound lane, where it collided with an eastbound 2021 Mack tractor-truck that was towing a semi-trailer.

Both vehicles caught on fire after the collision.

The Chevrolet driver, 67-year-old Agapito Sanchez Martinez of Ballinger, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The Mack truck driver, a 54-year-old from San Angelo, was uninjured in the accident. They were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The Texas DPS is investigating the accident.
