Winkler County, TX. – One person was killed in a multi-vehicle collision in Winkler County on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident happened around 9 p.m. on State Highway 302 at mile marker 236.
19-year-old Alejandro Alfonso Lima was driving a 2011 Ford Ranger westbound when he drifted into the opposite lane and struck a 2022 Peterbilt with an attached trailer.
A 2020 Ford was also traveling eastbound and was attempting to pass the Peterbilt when it collided with Lima’s Ranger.
A third vehicle, a 2015 Ford Fusion, then struck the Ranger, causing it to catch fire.
Lima was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Peterbilt was not injured.
The other two drivers were taken to Winkler County Hospital with minor injuries.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
