Boy Killed in Ward County Car Crash at FM 1219 and FM 1776

Ward County, TX. - A 13-year-old boy died in a crash that left five people injured on Wednesday evening in Ward County.

According to the Texas Highway Patrol, the accident happened at the intersection of FM 1219 and FM 1776 at around 7:40 p.m.

A Ford F350 was traveling southbound on FM 1219 when the driver failed to yield and collided with a Volkswagen Passat traveling eastbound on FM 1776.

The impact caused the Passat to hit a 2015 semi towing another semi.

A 13-year-old boy in the Passat was pronounced dead the scene.

The driver of the Passat sustained minor injuries and was transported to Ward County Hospital.

Another passenger in the Passat was transported to MCH Odessa with minor injuries.

A juvenile passenger of the Passat was transported to UMC in Lubbock for treatment

The driver of the Ford was transported to Ward County Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

More details on the collision were not available.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
