Crystal Vela Killed in Lubbock Pedestrian Accident at 66th Street and University Avenue

Lubbock, TX. – 40-year-old Crystal Vela has been identified as the woman who died after being struck by a suspected intoxicated driver on Sunday night in Lubbock.

According to the Lubbock Police Department, the fatal pedestrian accident happened in the 6500 block of University Avenue at 66th Street at around 11:59 p.m.

Vela was crossing University Avenue when she was struck by an SUV driven by Brian Rodriguez.

The woman was transported to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Rodriguez was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

More details on the accident were not available.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the accident.
