Dioel Sanchez Killed in Crash at U.S. 84

Mount Enterprise, TX – A 63-year-old Katy man was killed Wednesday morning when the SUV he was driving collided with a tractor-trailer at an intersection in Rusk County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:20 a.m. on September 30 at the intersection of U.S. Highways 84 and 259 in Mount Enterprise.

DPS said the SUV was traveling north on U.S. 259 when it failed to stop at a stop sign at U.S. 84. The SUV then struck a tractor-trailer that was turning left from U.S. 84 onto U.S. 259.

The SUV driver was identified as 63-year-old Dioel Sanchez of Katy. He was pronounced dead at the crash scene.

The tractor-trailer was driven by 63-year-old Rufus Barnett Jr. of Houston. DPS reported that Barnett was not physically injured in the collision.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety. No additional details were immediately available.
