1 Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on West Loop 281 in Longview
Longview, TX – A driver was killed in a two-vehicle crash on West Loop 281 Saturday evening in Longview, according to the Longview Police Department
Family members identified the deceased driver as Clayton Smith.
The collision occurred at approximately 7:50 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026, in the 2200 block of West Loop 281, according to the Longview Police Department.
LPD said a Jeep crossed the center median and collided with a Chevrolet Tahoe carrying five occupants. Smith, who was driving the Tahoe, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Jeep, 45-year-old Casey Johnson of Longview, was arrested following the investigation and charged with intoxication manslaughter, a second-degree felony, and intoxication assault, a third-degree felony.
