Dallas County Woman Gina Murphy Dies After Being Struck by Vehicle in Grand Prairie
Grand Prairie, TX – Authorities have identified a pedestrian killed in a vehicle collision in Grand Prairie early Sunday morning.
The authorities identified the victim as Gina Murphy, 50, of Dallas County
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 5, in the 900 block of South Belt Line Road.
According to investigators, a Maserati was traveling northbound when the driver failed to negotiate a curve and struck Murphy, who was in the roadway.
Murphy sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after emergency crews arrived.
The driver of the Maserati was not injured and remained at the scene, where they cooperated with investigators.
Authorities said impairment is not believed to have been a factor in the crash. However, distracted driving has not been ruled out as investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision. An autopsy has been ordered to determine Murphy's exact cause of death.
The Grand Prairie Police Department continues to investigate the fatal crash.
