Martha Avila Killed in Cras

Katy, TX – A 76-year-old woman died after a Tesla crashed into a residence Friday in Katy, according to authorities.

The crash occurred on Rose Hollow Lane near Highland Knolls at about 8 p.m. on June 19, 2026.

Investigators with the Harris County Sheriff's Office said Martha Avila, 76, was standing inside the front room of her home when a Tesla Model 3 crashed through the wall.

Authorities determined the Tesla was traveling eastbound on Rose Hollow Lane when the driver failed to maintain a lane, left the roadway, and failed to negotiate a right turn at an intersection before striking the residence at a high rate of speed.

Avila suffered serious injuries in the collision and was airlifted by Life Flight to a local hospital, where she later died.

The 44-year-old driver of the Tesla was also transported to a hospital for treatment. Information regarding the extent of the driver's injuries was not immediately available.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the fatal crash.

Additional details have not been released.
