Jonathan Thomas Killed in Temple Crash on State Highway 36

Temple, TX. - 42-year-old Jonathan Aaron Thomas has been identified as the man who died in a two-vehicle crash on Thursday in Temple.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened on State Highway 36 near the Bell County line.

The man was driving a 2013 Mack truck on State Highway 36 when he lost control of the vehicle after taking evasive action to avoid a detached tire from a trailer being towed.

The man veered into the northbound lane and collided head-on with an oncoming 2018 Freightliner delivery truck driven by a 25-year-old woman.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman was taken to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
