Pecos County, TX – Two people were killed early Saturday morning in a two-vehicle collision in Pecos County, according to the Texas DPS.
The fatal collision was reported around 6:30 a.m. on March 28 on FM 1776 near mile marker 369.
DPS said a 2024 Ford F-150 was traveling northbound while a 2005 Peterbilt towing a trailer was traveling southbound. The Peterbilt failed to maintain a single lane, drifted into the northbound lane, and collided with the Ford.
The Peterbilt became fully engulfed in flames after the collision.
The Peterbilt driver, Josea Manuel Gonzales, 57, of Gilroy, California, and the Ford driver, Tommy Dale Watkins, 54, of Thorntonville, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The DPS is investigating the accident.
