Mark Schaefer Killed in Longview Car Crash on I-20 near Mile Marker 583

Longview, TX. – Mark Schaefer, 39, was killed in a collision involving an 18-wheeler on Friday morning in Longview.

According to the Gregg County Sheriff's Office, the accident happened on I-20 near mile marker 583 at around 1:15 a.m.

Schaefer was driving a Chevrolet Camaro westbound on I-20 when he failed to control his speed and struck the rear of the 18-wheeler.

Schaefer died at the scene.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

Additional information regarding the collision were not released by law enforcement

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.
