Miguel Rodriguez Killed in Motorcycle Crash on Business 20 in Midland

Midland, TX – A motorcyclist was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Business 20 in Midland Monday afternoon after a pickup truck hydroplaned into slowed traffic, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The fatal crash occurred at about 4:15 p.m. on September 21 in the westbound lanes of Business 20 near mile marker 311

According to the preliminary DPS investigation, a 2005 Nissan Frontier was traveling west in the inside lane and slowed because of a crash ahead. A 40-year-old rider, identified as Miguel Rodriguez, was riding a 2026 Indian N26 motorcycle behind the Frontier.

Rodriguez also slowed for traffic. A Toyota Tacoma traveling behind them attempted to reduce speed but hydroplaned, striking the rear of Rodriguez's motorcycle before crashing into the Frontier.

Rodriguez suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene. No one else was injured in the crash.

No charges or arrests were reported in the information released.

The fatal motorcycle crash remains under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
