Paula McCutcheon Killed in Collinsville Train Accident at US 377 and County Line Church Road
Collinsville, TX. - A Whitesboro woman died following a crash involving a freight train that happened in Collinsville early Sunday morning.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred near the intersection of US 377 and County Line Church Road at around 5:30 a.m.
Paula McCutcheon, 69, of Whitesboro, was driving a vehicle southbound in a passenger vehicle when she struck a derailed freight train that was blocking both lanes of the highway.
The woman was critically injured and was flown to Medical City Denton, where she was pronounced dead on Monday, according to the Collinsville Fire Chief.
The train had 115 cars, of which 23 were derailed. Union Pacific said no hazardous materials were involved and confirmed the train was carrying mixed commodities.
Further details regarding the accident were not immediately provided.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
