Robert Hill Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on US 287 in Donley County
Donley County, TX. - A 68-year-old Amarillo man was killed after a fiery wrong-way crash on Friday morning near Hedley in Donley County.
According to the Donley County Sheriff's Office, the accident occurred on US 287 at around 1 a.m.
Robert Allen Hill was driving a 2016 Nissan Frontier westbound in the eastbound lanes when he collided with a 2016 Ford F-350 towing a tractor-trailer.
The driver of the Ford reportedly attempted to avoid the collision but was unable to avoid the crash.
The Nissan burst into flames after the collision. A 2021 Toyota Corolla lost control and struck the Ford F-350.
Hill, a resident of Amarillo, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other two drivers were not injured.
More details on the accident were not available.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the accident.
