Roberto Lopez and Karen Lopez Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 361

Corpus Christi, TX – Authorities have identified two people who were killed in a four-vehicle crash in Corpus Christi on Friday afternoon, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The fatal collision occurred at approximately 3:40 p.m. in the 8100 block of State Highway 361 near Beach Access Road 3.

According to authorities, one vehicle was traveling southbound when it rear-ended another vehicle. The impact pushed the second vehicle into oncoming traffic, where it collided head-on with a third vehicle. A fourth vehicle traveling northbound then struck the third vehicle.

55-year-old Roberto "Robert" Lopez and 46-year-old Karen Lopez were killed in the accident, according to the Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office.

Two other people were transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

Alcohol is not suspected to have been a factor in the collision.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the accident.
