Samantha Cruz Killed in San Patricio County Crash at US 77 and State Highway 89
San Patricio County., TX. – Authorities have identified five people who died in a two-vehicle crash on Saturday morning in San Patricio County.
The fatal collision happened at the intersection of US 77 and State Highway 89 at around 8:30 a.m., according to the San Patricio County Sheriff's Office.
37-year-old Samantha Cruz was driving a 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee southbound on the US 77 access road when she failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign and collided with a southbound 2011 Toyota Tundra driven by a 46-year-old man.
Cruz and her three passengers, 37-year-old Sara Cruz, 64-year-old Sonia Montes, and 61-year-old Sallie Montes, died at the scene.
A fifth occupant of the Jeep, Ruben Cruz, 68, was airlifted to CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline, where he succumbed to injuries.
The driver of the Toyota and two juvenile passengers were taken to Northwest Emergency Room for treatment.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the accident.
