Sheldon Rangel Killed in Itasca Crash near State Highway 81 and County Road 418
Itasca, TX. - Sheldon Gutierrez Rangel, 25, has been identified as the man who died when a FedEx truck was struck by a train on Thursday in Itasca.
According to the police, the accident happened 2 p.m. near State Highway 81 and County Road 418.
A FedEx's Mercedes Benz Sprinter was traveling west on a private drive when it was struck by a Union Pacific train while crossing the tracks.
Gutierrez Rangel, a resident of Dallas, succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the FedEx van was taken to hospital in critical condition.
A Covington Volunteer Fire Department firefighter suffered a heat-related illness and was airlifted to a Fort Worth hospital.
More details about the accident were not immediately available.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
