Steven Ruiz Killed in Austin Motorcycle Crash on East U.S. 290 Service Road

Austin, TX. – A motorcyclist was killed in a collision involving a dump truck on the East U.S. 290 service road in northeast Austin early Thursday morning, according to Austin police.

The fatal crash occurred around 1:05 a.m. near the 9300 block of East U.S. 290 on the westbound service road.

Authorities said the collision involved a motorcycle and a dump truck. Details regarding how the crash occurred have not been released as investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The motorcyclist, identified as 26-year-old Steven Ruiz, suffered fatal injuries in the crash.

Police said the driver of the dump truck remained at the scene following the collision.

Members of the Austin Fire Department and Austin-Travis County EMS responded to the scene and performed lifesaving measures on the victim before he was pronounced deceased.

The crash prompted an emergency response along the westbound service road near East U.S. 290 as authorities investigated the fatal collision and gathered evidence.

The motorcycle crash remains under investigation.
