Tavarshea Sims and Shane Taylor Killed in High-Speed Crash on I-35 in Belton

Belton, TX. - Two people were killed in a car accident that left two others seriously injured on Thursday evening in Belton.

According to the Bell County Sheriff's Office, the accident occurred on I-35 near mile marker 294 at around 8 p.m.

A 23-year-old man was driving a 2016 Nissan Altima northbound on I-35 when he made an unsafe lane change and collided with a 2026 Hyundai Elantra driven by 31-year-old Tavarshea Daveons Sims.

The Hyundai struck a guardrail after the impact, and the driver was ejected from the vehicle.

Sims was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger of the Hyundai, 39-year-old Shane Demeair Taylor, was taken to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, where he later died.

The driver of the Nissan and a female passenger of the Hyundai were taken to Baylor Scott and White Medical Center with serious injuries.

More details on the accident were not released.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.
