Third Person Dies after Harlingen Crash on Texan Road and Freedom Avenue

Harlingen, TX. - A third person died while receiving treatment following a head-on collision that occurred on Friday night in Harlingen.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident happened on Texan Road south of Freedom Avenue near Palmview at around 9:26 p.m.

A blue Ford Fusion driven by Jonathan Tellez-Sosa was traveling southbound on Texan Road when it collided head-on with a silver Chevrolet Malibu traveling northbound on the wrong side of the road.

The driver of the Ford Fusion and the male passenger of the Malibu were pronounced dead at the scene.

Efren Garcia Saldivar, 22, who was driving the Malibu, was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Monday.

The male passenger of the Ford Fusion was transported to South Texas Health System McAllen in critical condition.

More details on the accident were not available.

The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office is investigating the accident.
