Timothy Head and Barbra Thacker Killed, Four Other People Injured in Head-On Crash on Interstate 10 Near Clint
Clint, TX – Two people were killed, and four others were injured in a head-on crash on Interstate 10 near Clint on Monday morning, according to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.
The collision occurred shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2026, in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 near mile marker 42.
Investigators said a 2021 Lincoln Navigator, driven by 78-year-old Timothy Head of Van Horn, was traveling westbound when it veered off the roadway for reasons that remain under investigation. The SUV crossed the median and collided head-on with an eastbound 2025 Nissan Rogue.
Head was transported to an El Paso hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
A passenger in the Nissan, 67-year-old Barbra Thacker of Vernon, was also taken to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Four other occupants from the two vehicles sustained injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening and were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
The crash prompted a lengthy closure of the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 as emergency crews responded and investigators examined the scene. Traffic was diverted at the Clint exit before the highway reopened later that afternoon.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash.
