Woman, 23, Dies in Corpus Christi Pedestrian Accident on CR 44 near FM 1694
Corpus Christi, TX. - A 23-year-old pregnant woman died after being struck by a vehicle on Saturday morning in Corpus Christi.
According to the Corpus Christi Police Department, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred on County Road 44 near FM 1694 at around 3:20 a.m.
A white Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound on County Road 44 when it struck Kimberly Varela and her 18-year-old brother who were walking home.
Varela was transported to Christus Spohn Shoreline Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The 18-year-old man sustained injuries and was treated at the scene.
More details on the collision were not released.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the accident.
