The collision happened just before 2:30 p.m. on September 7 on Interstate 27.

Hale County, TX – One person was injured Sunday afternoon in a rear-end collision in Hale County, according to the DPS.
The collision happened just before 2:30 p.m. on September 7 on Interstate 27.
DPS said Thomas Rich was driving southbound when he rear-ended another car. That car caught fire, and the driver sustained 2nd degree burns. Their condition was not disclosed.
Rich was arrested and charged with intoxication assault. As of Tuesday, September 9, 2025, he had been released out on bond.
The DPS is investigating the accident.
