The incident happened on a fast-moving stretch of Belt Line Road, a four-lane street running between I-20 and I-30.

Grand Prairie, TX – Four family members, including two children, were killed following a suspected street racing in a Grand Prairie neighborhood Saturday night, according to a police report. A third child was critically injured and the police took two drivers into custody in connection to the incident.
The deadly accident occurred just after 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, at 1500 South Belt Line Road, near Marshall Drive. The incident happened on a fast-moving stretch of Belt Line Road, a four-lane street running between I-20 and I-30.
Grand Prairie police said two vehicles, described as a Chevy Traverse and a red Dodge Charger, were involved in the accident.
Reportedly, the SUV flipped onto its side and caught fire fooling the collision. The front end of the Dodge was smashed to pieces from the impact of the collision.
Five family members were in the Chevy at the time of the crash. Three people in the Chevy were pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were taken to the hospital in serious condition, where one of them died. The other patient, a child, remains in critical condition.
The names of the deceased have been withheld pending notification of the family.
The driver of the red Dodge, Jaime Mesa, 20, of Irving, was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to Grand Prairie Police, an initial investigation revealed the Chevy was traveling northbound on Belt Line and attempted to make a left turn onto Kingston Drive when it was hit by the red Dodge.
Police said Mesa was reportedly racing a second vehicle, described as a white Dodge Charger Daytona, southbound on Belt Line when he crashed into the Chevy.
Mesa was taken into custody and is charged with, four counts of racing on a highway causing death, four counts of manslaughter, one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and one count of racing on a highway causing serious bodily harm.
Authorities located the driver of the Daytona on Sunday. The man, identified as Anthony Morales, was arrested and is charged with four counts of racing on a highway causing death and one count of racing on a highway causing serious bodily injury.
