Cherokee County, Texas – The authorities have identified the man who died in a traffic collision involving an SUV and two semi-trucks on Highway 79 in Cherokee County.

According to officials, the victim, identified as Thomas Duane Duncan, 69, of Gladewater, was operating one of the two 18-wheelers.

Duncan was killed in the collision.

It was not clear if anyone else was injured.

Cherokee County, Texas — One person is dead following a multi-vehicle traffic collision in Cherokee County on Wednesday morning.

The deadly accident happened at about 9:40 a.m. on January 8 on the Neches River Bridge on US-79 West at the Cherokee and Anderson County line.

Authorities said two 18-wheelers and an SUV were involved in the collision.

One person was killed in the incident. The victim’s name was not immediately released.

Highway 79 was shut down in both directions for about nine hours. The highway has since reopened.

No additional information is available at this time.

The collision is under investigation.
