Armstrong County, TX – The person who was killed in a head-on collision that left three others injured  Claude in Armstrong County on Sunday night has been identified as James Smith, 40, of Amarillo, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The deadly collision occurred on State Highway 207 at about 10:57 p.m. January 19.

The DPS reported that James Smith was driving a 2002 Acura RDX southbound on State Highway 207 when he swerved into the northbound side and collided with an oncoming 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe.

The Hyundai rolled over several times following the accident and ended up in a ditch while the Acura skidded off the side of the roadway and into a ditch.

The impact of the collision caused Smith to be ejected from his vehicle.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Hyundai and a child in the vehicle had serious injuries while an adult passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver was airlifted to Amarillo Northwest Texas Hospital while the other patients were transported to the hospital by ambulance.

The three injured parties were reportedly from Borger.

The cause of the deadly collision is under investigation.
