San Antonio, TX – A 4-year-old child and a 40-year-old woman were critically injured early Sunday morning in a two-vehicle collision in San Antonio’s Southwest Side, according to the police.
The collision happened around 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of South San Marcos and South Laredo streets.
Police said a 34-year-old woman was driving at a high rate of speed when she sped through the intersection and collided with another vehicle driven by a 40-year-old woman.
The 34-year-old’s vehicle caught on fire after the collision.
The 40-year-old woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The 34-year-old woman was found to have been under the influence at the time of the accident. A 4-year-old child, who was a passenger in her vehicle, was not properly secured and was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The woman was arrested on charges of endangering a child and intoxication assault.
The police are investigating the accident.
