Harden County, TX. – A U.S. Postal Service worker was killed in a collision near Kountze in Hardin County on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident happened around 4:30 p.m. in the northbound lane of Highway 69 near Highway 327
A U.S. Postal Service mail truck was traveling west on Highway 327 when it reportedly disregarded a stop sign at the intersection and struck a northbound 2003 Ford F-350 towing a lowboy trailer.
The driver of the mail truck was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, where they were pronounced dead.
The driver of the Ford and three passengers were also taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
