Houston, TX – A driver was killed early Sunday morning in a rear-end collision in Houston, according to the HPD.
The fatal collision happened just before 2:30 a.m. on October 5, 2025, on the East Freeway near Wayside.
Police said a blue Nissan became disabled in the outbound lanes when it was rear-ended by a Jeep that was traveling at a high rate of speed.
The Nissan driver died in the accident. Their identity has not been released.
The Jeep driver was being checked if they were intoxicated or impaired at the time of the accident.
The accident closed the highway for several hours and was reopened around 8:00 a.m.
The police are investigating the accident.
