Corpus Christi, TX – A man is dead and another injured following a four-vehicle traffic collision on Interstate 37 in Corpus Christi early Monday morning, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
The deadly accident happened on I-37 South near mile marker 49 on October 11, just after 5 a.m.
According to DPS Troopers, a man was driving southbound in the outside lane of I-37 when, for some reason, his truck drove into the shoulder and hit a guard rail.
The man’s truck then moved into the middle of the roadway where it was hit by another vehicle before being struck by another truck. Another vehicle, described as a G-Series van operated by a Buda man, also struck the side of the man’s truck, pushing it to the outside lane of the interstate.
The man whose truck was hit by three different vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Donnie Watkins.
One of the other three drivers was injured and was transported to Christus Spohn in Beeville.
Beeville Highway Patrol Office is investigating the incident.
