Amarillo, TX. – One person died, and three others were injured in a crash on Thursday night in Amarillo.

According to Amarillo police, the accident happened in the 3800 block of SE 10th Avenue at around 11:08 p.m.

A Ford F-150 driven by a 35-year-old was heading east in the westbound lanes of SE 10th when it collided head-on with an oncoming Chevrolet Lumina

The driver of the Ford, identified only as Marcos Ramirez, fled the scene on foot after the crash.

The Chevrolet Lamina had four occupants who sustained life-threatening injuries. One passenger was pronounced dead after they were transported to the hospital.

Ramirez was hospitalized and was later released and charged with one count of intoxication manslaughter and one count of accident-causing bodily injury/death, among other charges.

According to the officers, drugs are suspected to be factors in the crash.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
