A female passenger of the car was taken to an area hospital, where she later died

Castro County, TX. – A woman was killed in a car accident that left a man injured in Hart on Sunday evening.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident happened on Date Street at around 4:23 p.m.
A 66-year-old Pineland man was driving a car north on the highway at an unsafe speed when he lost control, veered off the highway, and struck a tree.
The vehicle caught fire after the collision.
A 69-year-old female passenger of the car was taken to an area hospital, where she later died.
The man was taken to Plains Medical Center and then airlifted to University Medical Center in Lubbock with serious injuries.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
