Chambers County, TX. – One person died in a collision that occurred on Interstate Highway 10 in Chambers County Thursday morning, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.

According to the report, a 2012 Mazda passenger car traveling westbound on Highway 10 failed to slow down for vehicles ahead and slammed into the rear of a commercial vehicle.
The driver of the Mazda, who was not immediately identified, was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
Authorities said the incident occurred as traffic was stalled due to an earlier fatal rear-end collision in the area. The first incident, which happened at about 4:30 a.m. the same day, involved a 2015 Jeep Patriot, a commercial motor vehicle, and a 1995 GMC pickup.
The accident is under investigation.
