Ellis County, TX – One person was killed and another was injured when a chase ended in a collision in Red Oak on Thursday morning, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The wreck took place on Interstate 35E at Red Oak Road on Thursday, January 16.
The DPS reported that police officers in Dallas County identified a suspect wanted for capital murder and tried to stop them but the suspect fled from the area.
The officers began pursuing the suspect, who shortly after, entered Ellis County and ended up colliding with another vehicle that was not involved in the chase.
One person in the second vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene and another was left with severe injuries.
The suspect exited his vehicle armed with a firearm and tried to flee on foot but was shot by the officers.
The suspect was then given on-scene treatment, before being rushed to a Dallas hospital along with the injured occupant of the second vehicle involved in the collision.
No other injuries were reported in the accident.
Lanes were blocked in the area as authorities worked to clear the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
