Harker Heights, TX – A pedestrian was seriously injured Friday night in a hit-and-run accident in Harker Heights, according to the police.
The accident was reported around 8:39 p.m. on January 9 on Interstate 14 near FM 2410.
Police said a driver pulled onto the left shoulder of the highway because of a flat tire and exited the car to check on the damage. As the driver was standing outside the vehicle, they were hit by a passing motorcycle that also crashed into the passenger side of the disabled vehicle.
The driver was taken to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple with serious injuries.
The motorcyclist fled the scene after the accident and was located by the authorities after they crashed in the 900 block of Bellaire Boulevard in Killeen. They were taken to Seton Medical Center in Harker Heights for treatment and was later arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated.
No additional information was available.
The police are investigating the accident.
