Houston, TX – Two people are dead and two others injured following a head-on traffic collision on Highway 6 in West Houston late Sunday Night, according to the Houston Police Department.

The deadly accident happened at about 11:40 p.m. on November 24 on southbound State Highway 6 at Briar Forest Drive.

Houston police said a preliminary investigation showed that a white Crown Victoria was heading westbound on Briar Forest Drive when the driver attempted to turn right. In the process, the vehicle entered the southbound lane facing northbound. The driver tried to correct the vehicle and collided head-on with a black Mercedez with three people in it.

The driver of the Crown died at the scene. A rear-seat passenger of the Mercedes was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other people – the driver and the front-seat passenger of the Mercedes – were injured and were hospitalized in unknown condition.

Authorities said a third vehicle, a Toyota, hit the Mercedes after the first collision. No one in the Toyota was injured.

The incident remains under investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
