Houston, TX – Two people were injured in a two-vehicle involving an 18-wheeler in south Houston on Friday afternoon, according to the authorities.

The wreck happened on the South Beltway service road near S. Sam Houston Tollway on Friday, November 15.

Authorities said an 18-wheeler was traveling eastbound on the South Beltway when it collided with a car that allegedly ran a red light at the intersection.

The big rig then slammed into a power pole.

The driver of the car was taken to a hospital with critical injuries.

The operator of the big rig was also hospitalized with less serious injuries.

The area was left without electricity as crews worked to repair the destroyed pole.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
