Houston, Texas – The man who was critically injured in a DWI crash Sunday morning in Houston has died, according to the Houston Police Department.

The crash happened on April 21, on Eastex Freeway.

Police said a black Ford F-250 pickup truck, driven by 46-year-old Horacio Cruz Vijarro, was traveling southbound on the freeway in heavy rain when it rear-ended a red Hyundai Azera and then struck a barrier wall.

The driver of the Hyundai and the passenger were taken to the hospital where the passenger later died. The victim’s identity has not been released.

Vijarro showed signs of intoxication and was arrested. He has been charged with driving while intoxicated in Harris County Criminal Court. He was transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center. His charges might be upgraded.

The police are investigating the crash.
