Galveston, Texas – A 63-year-old man was killed Friday morning after being struck by an off-duty Galveston police officer, according to the Galveston Police Department.

The deadly accident happened near Broadway and 58th in Galveston.

Police said the officer was driving his personal vehicle to work when he struck the 63-year-old man.

The man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released.

No other details were provided.

The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
